Jarius

As I read the story about Jarius, a leader of the day, and his coming to Jesus for help I find an interesting story.  I think of all the things he must have been thinking, especially since I have a daughter of my own.  You see, Jarius' daughter was on her death bed and as a father I can imagine the anguish he must have been in.  As he remembered the days when his little girl ran around, picked flowers, gave big hugs, colored pictures, and any other thing little girls do, imagine the pain that crushed him.  He had a lot to lose going to see Jesus as well, being as he was a leader and all.  So what drove him to make that decision.  Yes at the surface it was the fact he could be losing his daughter, but I think it is deeper to than that.  I think it boils down to hope and faith.  he had hope that jesus could help.  He didn't know Jesus would follow him when he asked Him to come to his house and help his baby girl.  Let alone actually heal her.  Jarius was at the end of his rope!  He went to Jesus in hopes that Jesus would do something and he did.  On there way there Jesus stopped to heal another woman and a messenger from Jarius' house came and said, "Its to late.  Your daughter is dead."  Imagine the wave of emotions that this man goes through.  Shes sick, jesus is coming, shes dead, then Jesus says "Do not be afraid, she is fine".  Back and forth, back and forth.  Long story short, Jesus goes to his house and heals his daughter.  Just like that...he is reunited with his sick daughter.  She goes back to doing things that little girls love to do.  Jesus does the same thing to us spiritually.  He restores and heals us and we can be the people God created us to be.
